Dig Deeper Into the Dashboard

Well, look at you—an official deep diver! Welcome to the exclusive club of curious minds!

To achieve the goal of the Children’s Health Dashboard—enhancing stakeholder knowledge of the factors affecting children’s health in New Hampshire—we began by reviewing child health data from both state and national sources. Following this, we consulted with subject matter experts in various areas, including maternal and child health, infant and reproductive health, child maltreatment, environmental factors (such as water/air quality and lead exposure), tobacco use, secondhand smoke, vaping, student wellness, WIC/nutrition programs, family support, home visiting services, early childhood programs, children’s behavioral health, housing, and children with special healthcare needs.

Our first step was to develop key domains and indicators to guide the Dashboard’s framework. We then selected a national model that highlights the relationships between variables affecting health. The Health of the States, developed by the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center on Society and Health, serves as the foundation for our data analysis.
