About the Dashboard
What is the Children’s Health Dashboard?
The Children’s Health Dashboard was launched in 2025 to show important conditions that impact children’s health and well-being. Social determinants of health impact people through a mix of different factors, which all work together to shape a person’s health. This means that no single factor decides how healthy someone is. Instead, we need to think about a range of influences.
These influences, also called “determinants,” are the things around us that affect our health. They include the conditions we’re born into, how we grow up, where we work, live, and age. They also include larger systems and forces like economic policies, social norms, and political decisions that shape our daily lives.
Some key examples are frameworks like the Social Determinants of Health and the Seven Vital Conditions for Health and Well-Being. This dashboard was modeled after the Health of the States (HOTS) project which looked at associations between state health outcomes and potential health determinants by domains.
This website presents data graphically to show important conditions that impact children’s health. These conditions range from economic circumstances to physical environment and education. All of the indicators were chosen based on published research that documents what are the measures of and influences on children’s health and well-being.
Our goal with this project is to highlight key issues by region, explain the issue using data visualization, and then offer evidence-based strategies in which either policy, investments, or interventions could impact them. This will be done using a What? So What? Now What? approach.
We hope that the information assembled here will help the New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation, our stakeholders, government officials, policy makers, and other funders advance the health and well-being of all New Hampshire children.
